Learn sanskrit through stories
एकस्मिन् -------- (वन) एकः सिंहः अवसत्। एकदा सः -------- (वृक्ष) नीचैः सुप्तः आसीत्। एकः मूषकः तस्य शरीरे
इतस्ततः -------- (धाव् लङ्) | तेन सिंहः प्रबुद्ध: । सः मूषकाय अक्रुध्यत्। मूषकः अवदत्, "भो वनराज। -------- (अस्मद्)
दयां कुरु। अहं यथाकालं भवतः सहायतां -------- (कृ लृट् ) । सिंहः मूषकम् -------- (मुच् लङ्)।
एकदा सिंहः व्याध्स्य जाले बद्धः अभवत्। तदा सः -------- (गर्ज् लङ्)। तत् आकर्ण्य मूषकः तत्रा आगच्छत् अवदत् च-‘‘भो राजन्, अहं जालं कृन्तामि। भवान् चिन्तां न करोतु। ततः सः मूषकः जालम् --------(कृत् लङ्) तेन मुक्तः अभवत्। प्रसन्नः च अवदत् - ‘‘भो मित्रा मूषकः, -------- (अस्मद्) प्रसन्नः अस्मि|
This is an interesting way of telling a story. As you can see, the words to be filled are given in parantheses but without proper forms.
- e.g. the first word to be filled is वने - the word वन in locative case. Because the lion was living "in" the forest.
- Can you guess the second one? It is वृक्षस्य. - of the tree
- एकदा सः वृक्षस्य नीचैः सुप्तः आसीत्। Once he was sleeping under a tree.
- Next one is मयि - in me
- भो वनराज, मयि दयां कुरु । Hey king of forest, show mercy in me.
- Next is करिष्यामि - I shall do.
- अहं यथाकालं भवतः सहायतां करिष्यामि। I will help you when the time comes.
- Next is अमुञ्चत्
- सिंहः मूषकम् अमुञ्चत्। Lion sets the mouse free.
- Next is अगर्जत्
- तदा सः अगर्जत् । Then he roared.
- Next is अकृन्तत् - cut (past tense)
- मूषकः जालम् अकृन्तत्। Mouse cut the net.
- Last one is अहम्
- भो मित्रा मूषकः, अहं प्रसन्नः अस्मि| Hey friend mouse, I am happy.
